The Swan Hill Rural City Council Skilled Migration Program, operating out of the Swan Hill Region Information Centre, encourages skilled migrants into employment and assist local employers to fill gaps in skilled positions, that otherwise could not be met locally.

The program complements existing Economic Development services by:

  • Identifying skills shortages in the region;
  • Establishing sustainable relationships between businesses and skilled migrants to enable the fulfillment of skill shortages;
  • Providing information and advice to employers and business in relation to the employment of skilled migrants; and
  • Providing links between newly arrived skilled migrants and support services to help ease migrants and their families into our local community.

How we can help employers:

We can assist in this process by:

  • Providing the Regional Certification for RSMS 1054 forms;
  • Using our network and contacts to find suitable skilled migrants; and
  • Liaising with the Department of Immigration and Citizenship Regional Outreach Officers to assist with the immigration process.

How we can help migrants:

We can assist in this process by:

  • Providing New Resident Kit and information on accommodation, health and education services;
  • Assisting spouses of skilled migrants also looking for work; and
  • Liaising with the Department of Immigration and Citizenship Regional Outreach Officers to assist with the immigration process.
