Economic Development Unit

Economic Development is a key function of Council, and is the process of expanding the size of the local economy and creating wealth for the whole community. Council’s Economic Development Unit plays an important role in facilitating this economic growth.

The Council Plan 2009 -2013 is centred on economic development and population growth. Council has looked beyond the 4 year cycle of the plan and has developed a vision for the Swan Hill municipality that will lead us towards 2040.

The Swan Hill Rural City is fortunate to have a diverse economic base with a number of key industries such as agriculture, retail, tourism and manufacturing. The Economic Development Unit is undertaking a range of new and exciting projects that aim to enhance employment opportunities and help to stimulate the local economy.
