A major projects report in early 2006 conducted by the Swan Hill Rural City Council, Economic Development Unit identified twenty-two major private industry projects that have commenced and are likely to be fully operational by the end of 2008. The impact of these major projects in term of Investment and Jobs;

  • Total investment for the twenty-two projects - $844 million
  • Total direct full-time jobs created by the twenty-two projects – 636
  • Total casual jobs379 (full-time equivalent)
  • Total full-time equivalent jobs1015
  • Total regional jobs (both direct and indirect) – 1877

As this report indicates, the Swan Hill region is thriving, the local community and government organisations are eager for businesses to recognise the potential of the area, and are committed to promoting and facilitating sustainable development.
